  • ESRF conducts pilot study for Development and Extraction of Natural Gas in Mkuranga

    In preparation to carry out a baseline study in Lindi and Mtwara regions in 2014, the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) conducted a pilot data collection exercise in Mkuranga District in November 2013 to identify and correct gaps in the pertinent data collection instruments.

    The project which planned to start this year bore the title Effective Management of the Development and Extraction of Natural Gas in Tanzania for a Sustainable and Inclusive Socio-Economic Impact. Mkuranga district was an ideal because of the availability of natural gas in it and its proximity to Dar es Salaam

    Test interviews were carried out with various government and private sector officials, including businesses and local residents. Focus group discussion and personal interview approaches, including snowball sampling, were used strategically.

    ESRF with Support from UNDP launch Tanzania Human Development Report(THDR) Process in Dodoma

    The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the Tanzania Human Development Report (THDR) Process in a colorful ceremony held at Pius Msekwa Conference Hall in Dodoma on August 31st, 2013.

    The Ceremony was officiated by Minister of Defense and National Service Hon. Shamsi Vuai Nahodha on behalf of the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Mizengo Kayanza Pinda who was on other Government’s assignments in Tabora.

    The Tanzania Human Development Report (THDR) is country based; country driven as well as country owned initiative, focusing on national perspectives on human development in addressing priority themes, emerging trends, opportunities and challenges.

    ESRF holds Second Annual National Conference: Making Natural Gas Guarantee Sustainable Human Development

    The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) carried out its second Annual National Conference entitled Unleashing Growth Potentials in Tanzania: Making Natural Gas Guarantee Sustainable Human Development which took place at the Bank of Tanzani’s Conference Hall on 20th September, 2013

    The Conference which attracted a number of scholars, private sector, civil society, donor communities representatives and media houses was officiated by Minister of Energy and Minerals, Hon. Prof. Sospeter Muhongo who represented the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Mizengo Peter Kayanza Pinda.
