Study Identifies Investment Opportunities in Simiyu Region.
Between December 2016 and February 2017 the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) with the support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted a study in Simiyu Region to identify investment opportunities available in the Region
The study was carried out in six Local Government Authorities of Bariadi Town, Itilima, Meatu, Bariadi Rural, Busega and Maswa whereby more than twenty investment opportunities in agriculture, tourism, industries and livestock sectors were identified.
The study involved discussions with stakeholders including; the government officials at the regional level (Regional Secretariat), district chief executives, entrepreneurs and investors, leaders at village and ward level and small-scale farmers.
The results of the study formed the basis for preparations of Simiyu Investment Guide which is the roadmap of investment in the region. The Guide provides investment information to prospective local and foreign firms, and provides rationale and available incentives for investing in the region.
The guide was formulated in line with the investment policy of Tanzania, the vision of Simiyu and also aligned with National development frameworks such as the Tanzania Development Vision 2025 and National Five Year Development Plan 2016-2021 (FYDP II).
