Dr. Stigmata Tenga is a distinguished Tanzanian academic, researcher, and development expert with vast experience in governance, civil society, and social development. She has made significant contributions to social transformation, gender equity, and institutional development across Tanzania and the East African region.

As the Executive Director of the Foundation for Civil Society (FCS), Dr. Tenga strengthened civil society organizations, enhancing their role in governance, accountability, and community development. Her leadership positioned the foundation as a key driver of civic participation and institutional growth, advancing the influence of civil society in Tanzania.

Dr. advocates for women’s empowerment, she has promoted women’s leadership and economic participation, resulting in impactful reforms and capacity-building initiatives. Internationally, she has represented Tanzania on regional and global platforms, championing sustainable development goals (SDGs) and earning recognition as a leading voice in good governance, gender equity, and social justice
